Ming Lou Chinese Eatery.
chinese food... I went out with 2 other friends the other day for a quick dinner at Ming Lou Chinese Eatery. Going out with my friends, we don't usually eat at Chinese places where you order dishes and bowls of rice (feels too adult/family like for me.haha) but we were craving Chinese food. The place is quite nice inside with pretty nice decor and most seats being booths. We ordered 3 dishes and some rice. For around $8 we got half of a Chiu Chow style duck (aka "Lo Sui Ap" in canto, a soy sauce based marinated duck). This was alright, with the duck placed over a bunch of tofu. In addition to this we also ordered a mixed vegetable dish which had a bunch of different chinese veggies stir fried together (haven't had veggies in awhile.lol gotta be healthy!). The last dish we ordered was a deep fried spicy squid, which looked pretty good and tasted even better. For those of you scared of spicyness, no worries..its not that spicy, just a little. The dish is also lined with a bunch of fried seaweed, which tastes pretty good with the rice.
Quick Notes: For real though, these portions were not enough for 3 guys...shoulda ordered more haha. The food is pretty good and decently priced as the 3 dishes + 3 bowls of rice came to ~$30 (after tax/tip). I didn't get the chance to try, but my friend told me their desserts are really good. Another friend also mentioned the best deal at this place is the Chiu Chow Duck with noodles/rice for about ~$4, which is good for 1 person. Ming Lou is located in North York at the Leslie/Finch chinese plaza, facing Finch. It is right next to the Congee Wong and Sugar restaurants.
Dude, if you're gonna for Chui Chow food, order Chui Chow food!!!
ReplyDeleteTry their congee next time, it's not like cantonese congee.. it's better! or try their hot-bowl rice (bo-jei-fan), it's a little different than most places, and unlike most places they actually do it correctly..
good shit though keep it up!
seriousss..haha. we were in a rush, we jus wanted to order some quick stuff.but i will definitely take ur advice on the bo-jei-fan..
