Cho Won Family Restaurant.
korean food... So, I went out to eat Korean again (I love this stuff). This time, I went to Cho Won Family Restaurant. I went with one other friend, and we each ordered individual meals. Before our food came, we got a wide variety of the typical Korean appetizers. The selection here included Kimchi (pickled cabbage), pickled turnip, pickled, spring onion, potatoes with a sweet sauce, salted cucumbers, sprouts, a potato pancake and a surprisingly tasty spicy apple salad. Not only did they give us a lot, but they were definitely the most fresh/ tastiest of all the Korean places I've been to. In terms of our main dishes, I went with the Dolsot BimBimBap . BimBimBap is a korean dish where rice is covered with different types of sauteed vegatables, a little meat, mixed together with a chili pepper paste and served with a fried egg on top. The Dolsot version is what I had meaning that it was served in a hot sizzling stone pot, which makes the rice crispier and for real, the whole thing is tastier.lol My friend got a dish called Yook Gae Jang, which is a spicy beef brisket and vegetable soup that is served with a bowl of rice. It is similar to the pork bone soup, but defintiely easier to eat since there's no bones. These dishes were both very tasty and not that spicy at all.
Quick Notes: Cho Won is located at Yonge and Cummer (On the West side, which becomes Drewry) in North York. The exact address is 17 Drewry Avenue. The prices are the same as most Korean places, with the Dolsot Bimbimbap at ~$6.99 (before tax/tip) and the Yook Gae Jang at ~$7.99 (before tax/tip). The appetizers are all complimentary. The place is quite tidy and clean. At the time we went, Friday, ~ 8 pm, it was also very busy with a mini lineup outside. I also saw lots of other people ordering Korean BBQ dishes that I will try next time (not the all you can eat chinese ones, but real Korean BBQ).
