Danforth Dragon.

indian style chinese cuisine... Also known as Hakka food, the Danforth Dragon serves Chinese Indian fusion dishes. At the front of the restaurant, there is even an Indian and Chinese flag hung up. It is a popular chinese place on the Danforth that is always busy at lunch serving people in the area including students and teachers at Eastern Commerce (where I'm working now...lol). I came here with 3 other student teachers and for the first time in my life, a brown person was advising me on what kind of Chinese food I should order. During lunch, Danforth Dragon is about half full, but they seem to get most of their business from Takeout orders.
The Food: Monday to Friday, between 11:30 AM- 3:45 PM, they serve lunch special combos, so obviously this is what I went for. Although they serve Hakka dishes, much of their menu is made up of Chinese and Chinese Canadian type dishes like Kung Pao chicken, Beef w/ Tofu and even Chicken Balls. The first time I went, I went with a safe order and got the Chicken with Black Bean ($5.75 + tax), which was alright, nothing special. My friend ordered the Chili Chicken ($5.75 + tax), which was deep fried chicken in some sauce with lots of chili pepper. This looked and tasted great! Another dish we got was the Manchurian Chicken ($5.75 + tax), which was deep fried chicken in some spicy sauce that was really red in colour. This was pretty spicy as well, but didn't taste as good as the spicy chicken. We also got some Shanghai Chowmein with chicken ($5.75 + tax), which were your standard shanghainese noodles.
Overall, all the dishes were full of flavour and each one came with soup (corn soup or sweet/sour soup). If you like chinese food and spicyness, I would definitely recommend the Chili Chicken, or to try the Manchurian Chicken. Danforth Dragon is a good place to get some quick takeout for chinese food if you are in the Danforth area, especially for the lunch deals, which come in pretty big portions. Danforth Dragon is located at 861 Danforth Avenue (@ Danforth and Jones, it is West of Greenwood before Pape).
