subway deal... On Tuesday September 1, 2009, there is a new Subway restaurant opening at Dundas/ Bathurst. As a promotion for their grand opening, they are offering a buy one get one free deal. At this location, buy any 1/2 inch or foot long sub and get the second one free on September 1, 2009 only. This is a great deal, but it is only at this location, so go and grab it if you happen to be around there tomorrow.
torpedo coupon... This is a coupon for a free Torpedo sub at Quiznos (previous review of Torpedoes), with the purchase of any Regular or Large sandwich and a 20 oz Coca-Cola product. It isn't that good of a deal, but if you happen to be going to Quizno's anyways, might as well print this out and get a free Torpedo sub. The deal expires August 31, 2009. Click on the picture or Click here for the printable coupon.
subway deal... My buddy from McMaster, Mo, sent me this deal that is happening today (July 30, 2009, 11 am- 8 pm). The Subway at Eastern Ave and Leslie St is offering a free FOOTLONG if you buy any FOOTLONG at regular price + Medium 21 Oz Drink. If you are in the area, this is definitely a good chance to get a deal on their more expensive but tastier subs (ex. Sweet Onion Chicken Terikyaki). This is only for the Subway Restaurant at Eastern Ave & Leslie St (opposite of the Loblaws).
subs... Quiznos is known for having premium quality but expensive subs, but as most people have seen from their commercials they have been marketing their cheaper Torpedo Subs. In their commercials, it looked like an awesome deal, as the Torpedoes are 13 inch Quiznos Subs costing $4 + Tax (previously $5, but they reduced the price).
I decided to try one of the Torpedoes and chose the "Turkey Bacon Club" (Turkey, bacon, mozzarella, tomato/romaine confetti, Red Wine Vinaigrette, mayo). My first impression was that Torpedo was super skinny and that it was not enough! I mean, it was barely half the width of a normal foot long from subway. They have a chart that shows the Torpedoes' size in comparison to their other subs, but you notice how skinny they really are once you have the Torpedo in your hand. Taste wise, the Torpedo was solid, as Quiznos always makes tasty (but usually expensive subs). The bread they use is like a long toasted baguette.

Overall, I think the Torpedo is too small, but at $4 it is a decent price as these subs definitely do taste better than Subways $5 footlongs (although you get pretty much double the quantity for a dollar more at Subway). When going for these value subs, you will need to decide between quantity (Subway) or quality (torpedo).
In addition to the Turkey Bacon Club, the Torpedoes also come in 3 other flavours:
- Italian- Capicola, salami, pepperoni, ham, mozzarella, tomato/romaine confetti, Red Wine Vinaigrette
- Beef Bacon & Cheddar- Roast beef, bacon, cheddar, tomato/romaine confetti, mayo, Smokey Onion Mustard
- Big Kahuna Tuna- Tuna salad, cheddar and tomato/romaine confetti with Red Wine Vinaigrette
subs... Grabbing a sub from Subway is such a quick and easy lunch or dinner choice that it has become a staple in my diet. Their current deal, which has been going on for about a year is $5 for a footlong sub or 6 inch fresh value meal (you can choose from meatball, pizza, cold cut, ham and vegetarian). The 6 inch meal comes with either 2 cookies or chips (White Chocolate Macadamia and M & M's are the best), and a drink. I usually get a Footlong Meatball, Coldcut or Pizza sub. You can also choose different breads (recommendations: Honey Oat or Italian Herbs and Cheese). The Foot Long (12 inch) sub is clearly the better deal as long as you grab your own drink for cheaper elsewhere. Make sure you ask to get it toasted with cheese (before the veggies get put on) as many locations will forget to ask you.
Quick Notes: Since I go to school downtown at UT, the two closest locations in that area is the Subway across from the ROM, on Bloor and the Subway on Spadina (At Harbord). If you are in the UT area, I would recommend going to the Spadina location, as they are less busy and have the Nestle Vitao Drinks to choose from (sooo good), while the Bloor location only has pop/soda and juice. Another inconvenience at the Bloor location is that they don't allow you to use credit card unless your purchase is over $7 (which it never is, since I always get the $5 deal).
